ONCE UPON A TIME...
- I married a handsome, successful man.
- We had two healthy, lovely daughters.
- Our home was in a good school district.
- We drove luxury and safe cars.
- I worked at UC San Diego as a director of community health projects.
- We had personal computers.
- We had money in the bank, and retirement accounts.
We were living the American Dream...
...UNTIL
When you don’t pay attention, the universe screams at you until you listen.
- I had a business trip where I thought I was going to die on the plane leaving my daughters motherless.
- I was diagnosed with PTSD.
- My oldest (age 8) having a ruptured appendix that was so bad, she almost had sepsis.
- My daughter’s ruptured appendix was my wakeup call. I could no longer live the unconscious life I was living.
- I separated from and divorced my husband.
